Description

Many will consider this to be the best of the albums to date. The songwriting and musicianship are excellent and Jargow achieved rich acoustic textures in his choices of players and instrumentation. Moreover the sound is consistent from track to track.
My mission here is the same only more so, to wake people up to our responsibilities as stewards of the living Earth. In 1970 I saw a Hopi man speak for over an hour presenting prophecies of the Day of Purification and found it troubling and convincing. Later events in my life led me to believe in the profound depths of understanding these warnings were coming from. As fate would have it my spiritual search led me to live in Woodstock at the Wittenberg Center, which was involved in the opening of the door of the UN to the Hopi. I was fortunate to be present when the same man spoke at the UN and that story is told in DECEMBER 10, 1992. I don't mention his name here out of respect for the privacy of the dead but it's in the song.
One day I asked the Center's director Rev. Betsy what she thought we were doing here (on earth) and she answered, "Walking in the Days of the Prophecies." That was early 92 and I wrote the album's title song then. In 94 I was in Hamburg, Germany singing for tips in an open air galleria about 7 pm one spring day. Amazingly, about two hundred yards away a fairly tall building (maybe 7 storey) suddenly collapsed during the rendition of the song, which includes the words, "...the walls fall down." It seems like a strange time of day to schedule a building demolition but there you have it. I always thought it was one of those funny little coyote tricks that a slightly mischievous god likes to play. However, when the towers came down it added a darker resonance for me.
I have begun to suspect that the world is not exactly real.
Favorites include GET BACK IN YOUR CAGE, BLUEBIRD, FOX, and LITTLE YELLOW.
